With a plate warmer you can heat large numbers of plates in your restaurant or canteen. It provides a better experience for the guest, as you avoid lukewarm or cold food. We have a selection of the most used types of plate warmers. We have the Dutch brand CombiSteel and the German brands Bartscher and Scholl.
Plate warmers for professional kitchens are available in many sizes. Most restaurants will be able to make do with a model for approx. 60 plates, while hotel and conference centers must upgrade to a model for a minimum of 120 plates.
Smaller plate warmers have a regular door, while the large models have sliding doors. It is clearly most practical with a sliding door, as it takes up less space in the room when you open it.
The temperature in a plate warmer can typically be set to between 30 and 85 degrees. The warmer the plate, the longer the food stays warm. So when you make large servings at once, for example for a conference, the plates (and the food) must be kept warm for a longer time. For faster servings, and not least in buffets, the plate must not be too hot, as the guest could then burn themselves on it.
