Consider an ice maker if you use more than 7-10 kg/day year-round or want to ensure you always have enough ice during peak season.
20-40 kg/day is plenty for a small cafe.
40-60 kg/day is enough for a larger cafe that serves many cold drinks (30-60 seats)
60-100 kg/day is suitable for a typical cocktail bar
+100 kg/day is necessary for hotels and larger restaurants that also have a bar (+50 seats)
Medium and small ice cubes are good if you use narrow glasses or take the ice directly from the dispenser. Large ice cube makers are good because they melt slowly and work well if you have a box of ice at the bar from which you continuously pick.
Requirement: A flexible and hygienic solution that can handle extremely busy days.
Solution: We stacked two large ice makers (245 kg/day) on top of each other, with the option to switch off one during quieter periods. At the bottom, we placed a large storage bin, as bin capacity is always the bottleneck. Additionally, an Insurice water filter was installed to extend the lifespan of the ice maker, and a service agreement including cleaning was added, ensuring the machine ALWAYS meets the Danish Food Agency's requirements.
Result: Golfskoven always has enough ice cubes - even on the busiest days. Staff can spend their time on tasks that add value for customers.

It is typically restaurants, bars, and larger cafés that choose to buy a professional ice cube machine. Small cafés can choose a smaller model if they want to offer customers a better experience or if they want to make drinks. However, many coffee shops and cafés choose to offer chilled soft drinks instead.
It is the type of ice cube that determines when it melts. It is precisely at 0°C that the ice cube releases the most cold. An ice cube with a temperature of -60°C actually does not cool very much.
The ice cube's surface area is important for how long it releases cold to its surroundings.
Our selection of industrial ice cube machines makes ice cubes in sizes from 25x25x23 mm to 28x28x32 mm.
They are produced in a closed system where they are molded individually with fresh water that is slowly sprayed into the 'freezing box' for each individual ice cube. This ensures hard and crystal-clear cubes that melt slowly.
You can also get ice cube machines that make the familiar thimble ice cubes. They look like a thimble, meaning a hollow, elongated ice cube with a large surface area that releases more cold and thus ensures faster cooling. The disadvantage, however, is that the ice melts faster and makes for a watery drink.
The IM ice cube machines from Hoshizaki distinguish themselves by being incredibly hygienic. The actual production of ice takes place in a closed system that protects against contamination, and after each batch of ice, the water reservoir is drained and filled with fresh water, while the water plate is rinsed.
We recommend disinfecting the machine once a quarter and whenever you happen to touch the ice cubes with your fingers. Always remember to use an approved scoop for this purpose.
The cubes are frozen at -30°C, and the result is pure, extremely compact ice cubes with a slightly marbled effect.
There is no doubt that Hoshizaki is the best brand of industrial ice cube machines. The Japanese manufacturer has always focused on ensuring the machine can make perfect, hygienic ice cubes. These are popular models in restaurants, cafés, and not least bars, where there are high demands on ice production.
In addition, we have several flake ice machines that produce ice just below the melting point. They work well if you need to keep fish, salad, or dough chilled.
